The other day I was at home with 2 of my friends from school. The phone rang. I ran off to answer it. On the other end was a very difficult to understand Indian fellow.
"Is -incoherent babble- there?"
"Who?"
"-incoherent babble-"
"What? I can't understand you"
"I like to talk to -incoherent babble-"
"To who? Who do you want?"
"Is this -incoherent babble-"
"I'm really sorry, I just ave no idea what you are saying"
"I just want speak to -incoherent babble. Is this not -incoherent babble-?"
"I'm a teenager and am at home. I live in this house!" - I yelled this bit.
"So this homeline?"
"Yes this is a homeline"
"Sorry, me after a business. Wrong number I thinks"
*hangs up*
I went back and told them about how yelling 'I live in this house!' helped an awkward conversation. I hate speaking on the phone as it is, it's even worse when they're incoherent. They immediately made fun of me for it. I told them how I hate talking on the phone and get all nervous and say strange things. They laughed some more. I told them about how a phone was left at work and I had to go through the contacts and find a way to return it to it's owner.
I said I found the home number and rang it before becoming extremely nervous and unsure of what to say.
One friend interrupted and was like "What did you say? 'I've got your cellphone. I LIVE IN A HOUSE, WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?'."
It was beautiful and funny.
I can't think of talking on the phone with out 'I LIVE IN A HOUSE, WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?' running through my head, and I can't think of it with out laughing.
Plus I now feel like a major dick when I answer the phone.
